Job Description

The Tax Manager I will assist with the planning and implementing of tax strategies for operations internationally.

Essential functions

  • Supervises the completion of accurate tax returns in order to minimize the tax obligations of the Company.
  • Manages the implementation of international tax operational structures, including entrance and exit strategies for foreign countries.
  • Oversee the process of international audits and assist with the completion of the financial statements.
  • Provides operations personnel with appropriate tax information to prepare bids and contracts.
  • Interacts with outside tax counsel and accountants to ensure Company’s position is well managed.
  • Reviews annual, quarterly, and monthly tax accruals for assigned countries and other accruals on an as-needed basis, including cash suspense account review.
  • Reviews transactions between countries and between companies for tax consequences and prepares or assists in preparing the needed documentation such as sales contracts, loan documents, appraisals, etc.
  • Reviews local books in accordance with the planned tax strategy and host country requirements.
  • Supervises the cash tax budgeting for assigned country operations on a monthly basis.
  • Assists in planning, designing, and implementing tax saving ideas.
  • Provides internationally tax research and planning for both corporate and personnel matters.
  • Interacts professionally with both internal and external constituents; maintains effective working relationships and works in cooperation with the local accounting personnel for the assigned operations.
  • Adheres to Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent, is required.
  • Should have at least 5 years of experience in tax accounting.
  • Must be a detail oriented, self-starter and able to work with little supervision while maintaining goals/tasks.
  • Must have excellent PC skills to include all MS Office products.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and able to effectively communicate in a professional manner with staff, management, customers and vendors.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while managing time in a proficient and effective manner.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and be able to make complex decisions while keeping the department’s and Company’s philosophies and goals in mind.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is prefferred.
