Job Description
This position is responsible planning, directing and implementing the Company’s health, safety and environmental processes to ensure a safe, healthy and incident-free work environment in the field and field offices.
Essential functions
- Demonstrate and promote Safety and Environmental Leadership.
- Communicate HSE Policy, standards and expectations throughout the company operations.
- Be a visible leader at the worksite, energizing people, acting decisively and delivering results.
- Provide guidance, implement training, and effectively mentor personnel to support the site’s national HSE team.
- Monitor field personnel and activities regarding HSE issues; communicate effectively with field and office-based HSE personnel, Operations, Projects, Drilling, and Contract Staff.
- Assist with the development of the annual HSE plans and conduct periodic analysis and audits to determine adherence to the plan.
- Track and report incidents, near misses, spills and release (including contractors) to Management, and company HSE on a quarterly basis.
- Interface with engineering and production groups to participate in change management and project design and construction regarding HSE concerns.
- Oversee at a field level any oil spill response and major remediation projects.
- Support operations staff with response contingency planning for major HSE incidents.
- Implement internal HSE Field Compliance Reviews and Audit/Inspections.
- Follow all Company policy and procedures.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.

- Responsible for safety of self and others in the vicinity to include, but not limited to, employees, vendors and guests.
- Provide visible leadership engagement, be aware of housekeeping and take additional safety precautions to ensure no one is put at risk.
- Do not take short cuts or unnecessary risks and actively work with others to ensure they take due care and do not put themselves or others at risk.
- Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated in accordance with Company procedure.
- As needed, seek advice from HSE representative.
Additional Functions:
- ISNnetworld, Taproot, and Helipass experience preferred Experience drafting bridging documents, HSE plans and documentation Ability to conduct interviews for rig-based HSE roles.
Qualifications
Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities
Bachelor’s degree 10 years of work experience To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree.
- Should have at least 10 years of work experience as an HSE Trainer in an oil and gas environment.
- Should have 5 years’ experience supervising others.
- Must have and maintain current national and/or international Safety Professional certifications to include OHST, ASP, CSP, IH, etc.
- Must possess direct knowledge of land and offshore drilling operations and API Codes for drilling operations.
- Must understand, interpret and implement applicable regulations within regulatory jurisdiction.
- Must be able to understand and work mathematical equations.
- Capacity to work effectively under pressure in ambiguous and complex situations.
- Ability to work independently with multiple people at many levels and work as part of a team.
- Professional relationship and interpersonal skills with strong customer service attitude.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple requests from various avenues, and the ability to change direction in response to fluctuating circumstances.
- Must be able to problem solve.
- Must be a self-motivator and work without close supervision.
- Must be able to prioritize jobs and work under tight time constraints.
- Must have excellent computer skills to include all MS Office products.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors. Being multi-lingual is preferred.
