Job Description
The Training Specialist develops, coordinates and delivers technical training to staff, and ensures compliance with all regulatory agency training requirements. As the primary trainer for the organization, the Training Specialist will be certified in certain agency–related required trainings, manage and track training for all staff, maintain accurate training files and training database, drive efficient use of online and virtual training systems, and work with vendors as necessary.
Essential functions
- Identify and schedule presenters; deliver various training modules and work to continually enhance the orientation program and learning experience.
- Track training requirements for each employee. This includes maintaining accurate online file as well as hard copy file. Maintain an “audit ready” system.
- Manage communication to departments and staff about annual training requirements. Track compliance with requirements.
- Create new training programs based on needs of the organization.
- Coordinate training delivered by other departments
- Adheres to all Company policies and procedures.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Ensure that personal behaviors and work practices are in line with Company safety standards.
- Responsible for safety of self and others in the vicinity to include, but not limited to, employees, vendors and guests.
- Provide visible leadership engagement, be aware of housekeeping and take additional safety precautions to ensure no one is put at risk.
- Do not take short cuts or unnecessary risks and actively work with others to ensure they take due care and do not put themselves or others at risk.
- Ensure all incidents are reported and appropriately investigated in accordance with Company procedure.
- As needed, seek advice from HSE representative.
Additional Functions:
- Trains technicians to deliver training modules to employees and direct-supervised contractors/contingent workers.
- Training will be performed in person and remotely.
- This role travels to operational locations internationally.
- Advises regions/projects/locations on training requirements based on scope, customer, client, regulatory, or location needs.
- Competency verification from a technical perspective.
- Helps regions and functions coordinate, plan, and forecast training.
- This includes the logistical management of training facilities and materials required for effective training delivery.
- Contributes to training material content and management.
- Adapts learning tools and techniques accordingly to various audience groups, depending on their unique locations, roles, or relationship to the company and operations.
- Ensures records and evidence related to the delivery of training are documented properly.
- Provides feedback and contributes to the continual improvement of training program & materials, based on evaluation of training effectiveness.
- Maintains any certifications that are required.

- Must have a High School Diploma.
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Must have the following certifications: EMT, First Aid Instructor and IADC Well CAP.
- Should have at least 8 years of work experience as a Technical Training Specialist; preferably in oil and gas.
- Must understand, interpret and implement applicable regulations within regulatory jurisdiction.
- Must be able to understand and work mathematical equations.
- Capacity to work effectively under pressure in ambiguous and complex situations.
- Ability to work independently with multiple people at many levels and work as part of a team.
- Professional relationship and interpersonal skills with strong customer service attitude.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple requests from various avenues, and the ability to change direction in response to fluctuating circumstances.
- Must be able to problem solve.
- Must be a self-motivator and work without close supervision.
- Must be able to prioritize jobs and work under tight time constraints.
- Must have excellent computer skills (preferably Microsoft Word®, Excel®, Access®, PowerPoint® and Publisher® software).
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills and able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors. Being multi-lingual is preferred.
Additional qualifications, skills and abilities
Qualifications and Experience: - TRS experience, both field and service quality management, with sound working knowledge of TRS Conventional, Casing Running Tools, Connection Integrity and Evaluation (Torque Turn Monitoring), and general knowledge of casing and completion running services associated with Well Construction applications. - Demonstrated ability to perform and deliver remote learning and training using company programs such as Microsoft Teams to support teams and individuals remotely. - Demonstrated ability to understand Well Construction and Intervention applications in MPD, Cementing Hardware, Casing Exit, Fishing & Re-Entry, and other identified applications that bring benefit to the enterprise, supporting the development of service quality and delivery systems, processes, and training initiatives for WC&I product lines. - Completion of train-the-trainer, adult learning techniques, and/or educational certifications. - Understands and can apply various methods of training and education appropriate to the subject matter and audience. - Experience in the energy sector, specifically upstream oil & gas. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. - Capable of navigating Learning Management System software to support the maintenance and recording of training evidence. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both in-person and via remote communication platforms. - Able to understand and convey to others the perspectives of various functional elements of the work environment: operations, health & safety, quality management, technical or trades-based scopes, etc. - ±50% Domestic and Global Travel - Required Languages Spoken: English - Preferred/Optional Languages Spoken: Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Bahasa.
