Job Description

The General Manager takes Total Ownership for the entire location. This position is responsible for providing leadership and management for safety, customer relations, union management, operational execution, financial planning and results, commercial development, and the strategic vision of the location. The General Manager is responsible to ensure that the location and operations are executed in compliance with company guidelines, policies and procedures. This includes ensuring compliance with all company, client, and provincial or federal rules and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides visible leadership with Total Ownership Attitude.
  • Enforces, clarifies, and follows Company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Oversees the day to day business operations.
  • Promotes operational excellence through procedural and operational discipline.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the strategic plan for the divison.
  • Responsible for divison's profit & loss (P&L).
  • Responsible for developing the annual capital spending and AFE budget.
  • Responsible for managing the divisional profit and loss financials.
  • Responsible for maintaining company assets and records in accordance with company policies.
  • Responsible for client relationships and business development efforts.
  • Responsible for other local relationships (customer, vendors, and government) critical to the success of the operation.
  • Responsible for managing within the union environment and engaging, as appropriate, with union and customer representatives with regard to union activities.
  • Ensures strict adherence to company policies including those in the Integrated Management System (IMS)
  • Ensures strict adherence to company and government compliance related policies including the Code of Conduct, Procurement Narrative, the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and local laws and regulations.
  • Reviews contracts to ensure company’s interests are maintained.
  • Leads efforts to ensure employees are trained and competent for the roles they fill and that the KSA procedure from the IMS is followed.
  • Ensures that good communication and coordination between division, region and corporate staff functions.
  • Performs additional duties, responsibilities, and special projects as may be directed.

Qualifications

Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities:

  • Must have High School diploma.
  • College degree is strongly preferred.
  • Should have at least 5 - 10 years of drilling and leadership experience in drilling operations.
  • Should have experience supervising others.
  • Capacity to work effectively under pressure in ambiguous and complex situations.
  • Ability to work independently with multiple people at many levels and work as part of a team.
  • Professional relationship and interpersonal skills with strong customer service attitude.
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple requests from various avenues, and the ability to change direction in response to fluctuating circumstances.
  • Must be able to problem solve.
  • Must be a self-motivator and work without close supervision.
  • Must be able to prioritize jobs and work under tight time constraints.
  • Must have good computer skills to include all MS Office products.
  • Must be able/willing to travel nationally and internationally.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills and able to effectively communicate with staff, management, customers and vendors. Being multi-lingual is preferred.
