Job Description

The HSSE Specialist I is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, security, and environmental compliance. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring HSSE policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment. The HSSE Specialist I will work closely with operational teams to promote safety awareness and ensure adherence to regulatory and company standards.

Responsibilities:

    • Support, implement, and maintain HSSE policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, national, and international regulations.
    • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with HSSE regulations and standards.
    • Monitor and report on HSSE performance metrics, including incident rates and compliance levels.
    • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
    • Identify and assess potential hazards and risks associated with operations.
    • Implement risk management strategies and control measures.
    • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits for new projects, processes, and equipment.
    • Deliver HSSE training programs and workshops for employees.
    • Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness across the organization.
    • Ensure that all personnel are aware of and adhere to HSSE policies and procedures.
    • Maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
    • Conduct emergency drills and simulations to test response readiness.
    • Coordinate with emergency response teams and external agencies as needed.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and ensure timely reporting and documentation.
    • Maintain accurate records of HSSE activities, incidents, inspections, and training.
    • Prepare and present HSSE reports and updates to management.
    • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends in HSSE.
    • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance HSSE performance and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent are preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in HSSE role.
  • Strong knowledge of HSSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, develop solutions, and drive continuous improvement.

Successful completion of onboarding prerequisites:

  • Background screening, including a review of driving records.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Full clearance of a medical examination, which includes drug screening, physical assessment, and fitness for duty evaluation.
