Job Description
This position is the supervisor in charge in managing equipment and people movements on the deck of the rig or barge.
Responsibilities
Must be committed to the highest standard of safety, and be willing and able to comply with all safety and environmental relevant laws and regulations, as well as both Company and Customer safety and environmental policies.
- Performance of work in accordance with work instructions
- Provide supervision for the entrusted personnel
- Assists with offload and backload of the supply vessels and transfer of cargo on the decks of the platform with the use of platform cranes.
- Slinging and rigging of complex components.
- Take part and assist during helicopter operations (boarding and landing passengers, loading and unloading baggage)
- Responsible for working knowledge of assigned station during blowout control and any other drills.
- Participates in scheduled drills and other safety activities
- Must be capable of performing checks of the working order of equipment and appliances while working at heights
Qualifications
- Able to identify and understand functionality of various rig & drilling specific equipment.
- Able to identify and understand functionality of various tubular sizes types, and thread types.
- Knowledgeable and proficient in advanced rigger’s role to ensure safe lifting operations are performed.
- Knowledgeable of mechanical systems and be skilled at working with hand and power tools.
- Knowledgeable of and capable of operating forklifts, gantry cranes, tubular shuttles as required.
Can demonstrate knowledge and execution of the following operations:
- Drilling and well operations
- Dropped objects prevention
- Line of fire, zone of exclusion and safe zone operations
- Pipe measurement and tallying of tubular used in wellbore construction
- Running casing and completions assemblies
- General tubular management
- Logistics and planning of cargo load out and back loads
- Supervision of deck and gantry crane operations
- Crane maintenance and wire rope inspections
- Loose lifting equipment management
Education, experience, and certifications:
- High School diploma is required
- Should have at least 5 years of work experience in a similiar role
- Must be able to obtain appropriate certifications
- Previous experience in the oil industry is preferred
- Must have good verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate in English with staff, management, customers and vendors.
- Must possess sound reasoning skills, common sense and the ability to follow directions.
Additional qualifications
Can demonstrate knowledge and execution of the following operations:
- Required to meet all standards required for safe operations, including but not limited to the standards set forth in the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Atlantic Canada Medical Assessment for Fitness to Work Offshore as well as any other standards set forth by regulatory bodies having jurisdiction over the operations.
- Travel to and from the work location may require extended layovers in unfamiliar locations by helicopter or boat.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per day on a rotational schedule
Must possess the following certifications:
- Advanced Rigging, Slinging and Banksmen
- ROCMC ( Radio Operator - Maritime Commercial)
- RORC-A (Restricted Radio Operator - Aeronautical)
- Crane Operator - Stage 3 (API Certification)
